The War of Two Queens by Jennifer L.Armentrout is the fourth book from Blood and Ash series
Rating: ★★★★/★★★★★
Synopsis:
From the desperation of golden crowns…
Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.
And born of mortal flesh…
Nothing will stop Poppy from freeing her King and destroying everything the Blood Crown stands for. With the strength of the Primal of Life’s guards behind her, and the support of the wolven, Poppy must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her way—because there can be no retreat this time. Not if she has any hope of building a future where both kingdoms can reside in peace.
A great primal power rises…
Together, Poppy and Casteel must embrace traditions old and new to safeguard those they hold dear—to protect those who cannot defend themselves. But war is only the beginning. Ancient primal powers have already stirred, revealing the horror of what began eons ago. To end what the Blood Queen has begun, Poppy might have to become what she has been prophesied to be—what she fears the most.
As the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.
REVIEW:
So here are my thoughts on this book.... Did i like it? Yes!!! especially the last half of the book. The initial chapters were a bit slow and more focused on the preparation for the war and how they take control of certain cities in Solis and how Poppy is learning to be the Queen and take decisions. The thing which i liked and also did not was Poppy's compassion towards the mortals and giving them a chance not to be intervined between the war, I hated it because it seems Isbeth always used Poppy's compassion as a shield to her advantage though it annoyed me a bit but I like this aspect that these characters have consideration towards the casualites that might take place in war.
I also liked Casteel's point of view, his love for Poppy was just awe and how satisfied he seemed to be that he was the one to be captured and not Poppy just melts my heart. Hands down one of my favourite couples ever.
I also like Poppy's evolution with Kieran....considering from book 1 they have come a long way, Kieran's caring for Poppy and staying with her at night in his wolven form was sweet and personally I feel like it was love but not the kinda love that Casteel and Poppy and I totally approve of it.
The reunion between Casteel and Poppy was a little too streched out for my liking but im not complaining, the concept of heartmates being able to walk in each others dreams was amazing and the connection that both of them have is something to yearn for.
Malik staying with Isbeth and doing things because Millicent is his heartmate makes sence and i understand but it still hurts to know how much his actions have hurt others, but I do know if Casteel was in the same situation he would do exactly what Malik had done, I still am not able to forgive him whole heartedly. And Dammit Malik being the one who led the cravens in Lockswood all those years ago ...why..just why...oh god i really hope things get better where Malik is concerned.
And Millicent being Poppy's sister, I like her I know she has good intentions but I hope we see both Malik and Millicent with Poppy's gang in the next book.
The time my heart clenched while reading the book was ....when Delano was stabbed damn it!!!... if he was actually dead i would be really very pissed, I would have also like a bit more interactions between Poppy and Delano.
So Poppy is indeed a Primal......of both life and death, I don't remember the time she used to be a mortal anymore .....anyways I don't know how i should think about Ires and Isbeth coming together to make Poppy and all, I just can't wrap my head about that part where Ires was not forced. Okay we need to know more about Maleec and Ires also their point of the story.
The spice in this book was good and the joining.....I'm fine with that, I do wish it could have been a bit more detailed but I appreciate what we've got.
I also liked Reaver here, he is just enjoyable to have around especially his banter with Kieran I hope we find Jadis soon,
Overall I liked how the plot moved and was more than happy with the death of Isbeth, I do wanna know who this Callum is and now as Isbeth is dead how will the kingdoms be, how will the mortals view Poppy, also how are they going to kill Kolis. Im sure the next books would give us some answers, hope the wait isn't too long. Thanks for reading!!
